Last week, Georgia coach Kirby Smart was asked which former Bulldog he’d most want to coach.

He took that opportunity to take a jab at South Carolina coach Will Muschamp — his friend and former teammate — by choosing him.

On Thursday, Muschamp laughed at Smart’s good-natured ribbing and was asked the same question.

Not being able to choose Smart, obviously, Muschamp took the question a little more seriously, naming one offensive and one defensive ex-Gamecocks star, according to 247Sports:

“I’d probably take, on offense, Marcus Lattimore,” Muschamp said. “I have great respect for him, not just as a player but as a person and how he carries himself and how he affected everybody in the great run there winning the East that year.”

Defensively, he chose a former No. 1 overall pick, who he said he wishes could come back to college for his final year of action:

“Obviously Jadeveon Clowney,” Muschamp said. “I wish we had that year of eligibility.”

Putting Lattimore and Clowney on this fall’s Gamecocks’ squad would certainly give them a big boost in the SEC East. In fact, it might even make them the favorites to win the division.

Unfortunately, Muschamp won’t get to coach those guys in 2017 — though the team he does get to coach has plenty of talent on it already.
