South Carolina is sticking with Collin Hill as its starting quarterback this week when it plays host to Texas A&M.

Coach Will Muschamp said Ryan Hilinski and Luke Doty got a lot of reps during the off week, but the coaching staff feels that Hill gives them the best opportunity to win.

Doty, though, has a special part of the offense that is different than Hill and Hilinski.

“He continues to improve, he’s been very impressive with the different things we’re asking him to do,” Muschamp said. “He’s continued to progress with that package and has done a nice job.”

Hill this season is completing 61.5 percent of his passes for 1,076 yards and is averaging 6.9 yards per attempt with five touchdowns to three interceptions. Two weeks ago, Hill had a rough game at LSU, when he was 12-for-22 for 234 yards, a touchdown and a Pick Six.

Doty had a six-yard run against LSU as he’s one of the more versatile players on offense between wide receiver and quarterback.

The bye week also offered a chance to improve in some areas.

“Offensively, we’ve got to protect the quarterback better and better timing in the passing game and I thought we made some strides there,” Muschamp said.
