During South Carolina’s shocking upset win over Georgia, quarterback Ryan Hilinski injured his left knee. Hilinski was visibly limping during the first half; however, during the third quarter, the freshman took a low hit and left the game.

On a third and 18 play deep in his own territory, Hilinski threw a wide receiver screen pass, and a defender accidentally hit him low on the left knee. He was helped off the field and immediately went into the medical tent. Hilinski stayed on the sideline and watched backup quarterback Dakereon Joyner finish out the game, one that won’t be forgotten for a long, long time in Columbia.

During Will Muschamp’s normal conference call on Sunday night, he updated his young quarterback’s status ahead of Saturday’s game against the Florida Gators.

Obviously, this is great news for South Carolina. The Gamecocks offense is much different with Hilinski at the helm, not to mention he’s one of the best young prospects in the nation at his position.

Hilinski finished Saturday 15-of-20 for 116 yards and one touchdown. Joyner finished 6-of-12 for 39 yards and also added 28 yards rushing.

The Gamecocks and Gators kickoff Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
