Gus Malzahn shared a positive update about his wife, Kristi, and she is home and doing “significantly better.”

The UCF coach thanked the doctors, nurses and staff at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He also thanked those who reached out to check on her and prayers for the family. “The support has been overwhelming and appreciated.”

The two celebrated 33 years of marriage over the summer.

“As of today, Kristi has returned home and is doing significantly better,” he shared on social media. “… Praise the Lord for Kristi’s recovery and looking forward to the progress she continues to make. I’m in awe of how tough she is.”

Malzahn shared 17 days ago that his wife was hospitalized battling an infection.

Malzahn, 56, his wife Kristi are parents of two daughters, Kylie (Collin) Peek and Kenzie (Charl) Stander and have several grandchildren.

It has been a trying time health-wise for the Malzahns.

In October, their daughter Kenzie Stander, who lives in Birmingham, Alabama, gave birth to her first child. Stander was readmitted to the hospital due to complications but eventually was stable and doing well, UCF said in a statement at the time, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Then in November, Malzahn revealed that he fractured his tibia in his right leg during a home contest against Tulane. Malzahn had to use crutches for the following 6 weeks and coached from an elevated platform.
