Mel Tucker shocked the college football world early on Wednesday morning as the Colorado coach made the decision to leave the Buffaloes in the middle of the night after spending much of his week reaffirming his commitment to the Pac-12 program before eventually deciding to leave for Michigan State.

Tucker even issued a firm statement on Twitter issuing his commitment to Colorado that has since been mocked by the school’s mascot, Chip.

Following the news of Tucker’s departure to Michigan State, Colorado AD Rick George issued the following statement on Wednesday:

“We are disappointed to see Coach Tucker leave. We are excited about the upward trajectory of our football program and we’ll get to work immediately hiring the next head coach to build on our momentum and lead our young men. We’re confident this program is on the verge of competing at the highest level and has the resources and support in place to do so for a long time.”

That statement from George was far more diplomatic than the one issued by Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor member Drew Pearson. Here’s what Pearson had to say on the matter:

“MEL TUCKER IS A CON MAN! He recruited my grandson to go to CU said he wasn’t going anywhere then ups and leaves. Sat there and lied to my face he wasn’t going anywhere! So I want to beat him up today on social media. What else can I do?”

Pearson isn’t alone on this one.

Check out what four-star Louisiana running back signee Ashaad Clayton, who held an offer from Florida and was being recruited by the Gators heading into National Signing Day, shared on Twitter following the news:

“I hate being lied to..”

That about sums it up perfectly.
