Miami QB Tate Martell has had a long season.

The Ohio State transfer lost the preseason quarterback competition and reports surfaced in August that he might’ve left the program. He then switched to receiver, but in late October requested to move back to quarterback, and now he’s third-string.

But now he is not with the team, according to a report from Inside The U. The report said Martell did not appear to be in attendance for Saturday’s game against Florida International at Marlins Park Stadium.

Martell was not seen during pregame warm-ups and did not run out with the team at the start of the game.

Martell did not attend UM’s road game at Pittsburgh on October 26th due to a “medical leave of absence” but he did return to practice the following week leading up to the Florida State game.

Martell hasn’t played in a game since Week 6 against Virginia Tech, when he played two snaps at slot receiver.

“He has had some issues here and there that he has been going through and we are here to support him,” offensive coordinator Dan Enos said on Monday. “Tate is a guy that has settled into where he is going to be. He has had a little bit of a roller coaster situation about positions and things like that. He has been a guy that has practiced really hard and been diligent about his preparation the last couple weeks.”

Martell ranked as the No. 56 overall player nationally in the 2017 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
