While USC continues its search for a new head coach, one coach that is taking his name out of the mix is former Auburn football coach and current head coach of Central Florida Gus Malzahn.

Malzahn made a statement on a talk radio show saying in part, he has no interest in the Trojans job when asked about it.

Malzahn said this on Mike Bianchi’s show, “Open Mike”:

“I’m not interested in the USC job, I’m blessed to be at UCF,” he said. “We got big things ahead in the future.”

Malzahn, who was fired last year from Auburn, took the UCF job earlier this year.

Although he took his name out of the running, Malzahn’s name so far has not appeared or been mentioned for the head coaching job at USC.

The top names mentioned have been Penn State head coach James Franklin, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal and Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell, among others.
