Demond Demas, a former 5-star WR at Texas A&M, was was suspended this week following an arrest on a domestic assault, and while his future may be uncertain, a new development to the case emerged on Thursday.

Brent Zwerneman of The Houston Chronicle reported that Texas A&M police said that the Dad of the alleged victim assaulted Demas prior to a hearing. Demas’s attorney, Tony Buzbee on Wednesday issued a statement that said that Demas was released on “minimal bond” and looks forward to defending himself against the misdemeanor charge.

Demas is accused of assaulting his girlfriend last week. The Houston Chronicle reported that a probable cause affidavit stated that Demas’ girlfriend alleged that he “pushed her head into a wall” and threw her off a bed after she bit him in the shoulder.

That reportedly caused her top front teeth to go through her bottom lip. She suffered bleeding, loose teeth, swelling and a hole to the bottom of the lip, per the report.

“We look forward to demonstrating that this is all an unfortunate misunderstanding. Demond Demas is a solid young man and a generational talent. He looks forward to clearing his name and moving on to be the best student and athlete he can be. In the meantime, we will let the process play itself out and will address the misdemeanor allegation in court, in due course,” Buzbee said in the statement.
