The Green Bay Packers traded RB Ty Montgomery to the Baltimore Ravens during Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, opening a spot on the roster.

On Wednesday, that meant a promotion for a former Texas A&M running back, who had been working with the Packers’ practice squad.

According to a release from the team, the Packers have signed former Aggie Tra Carson to the active roster:

The Green Bay Packers signed RB Tra Carson to the active roster from the practice squad and signed RB Lavon Coleman to the practice squad. The transaction was announced Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Carson went undrafted in 2016, but was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as a free agent. He spent last year with the Bengals, too, albeit on injured reserve.

This is his chance to show what he can do, as the Packers like to use a rotation of running backs. We’ll see if he impresses when he gets a chance on the field.
