Jerrod Johnson, the former Texas A&M quarterback, has reportedly landed a new NFL job, according to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

The Minnesota Vikings are hiring Johnson as an offensive assistant, and he will work with the passing game and quarterbacks. Johnson, who has also been an Elite 11 QB coach, worked for the Indianapolis Colts the last 2 seasons. He previously coached with the San Francisco 49ers. The Pro Football Network reported that Johnson is a former Elite 11 quarterback, Johnson has coached for the San Francisco 49ers under a Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship. He was promoted 2 years ago to his current role with the Colts. He interviewed last year for the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterbacks coaching position.

Johnson, 33, finished his college career with a school-record 8,011 passing yards and 8,888 yards of total offense and also played on the Aggies basketball team.

He went undrafted, but he played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Hartford Colonials, and Sacramento Mountain Lions.

Johnson was Texas A&M’s starting quarterback from 2008 to 2010. He originally committed to the Aggies as a basketball player out of Humble, then-head coach Dennis Franchione took a liking to him as a tight end prospect and offered as a football player as well, GigEm247 reported.

He was named the offensive coordinator at Houston St. Thomas High School a few years ago. He was set to join his former head coach Mike Sherman in the CFL but decided against at the last minute.
