Texas A&M picked up a big over Arkansas on Saturday night, 23-21.

It was a hard-fought game that could have gone either way.

On Monday, Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher met with the media and admitted that while he was happy to win, his team has a long way to go.

“In evaluating the film, again, proud of our team,” Fisher said. “The way we competed in the game, as far as how hard we competed in the game. …. We had many times that they had jumped on us to get away and we (came) back. We have to learn to to put people away, do things we have to do.”

Fisher was quick to point out, however, that playing hard isn’t enough.

“We won the game and I’m very proud of that,” he said. “But, not very happy in the way we played. I don’t think we played close to our best and that’s encouraging in that there’s a lot more in there. … We need to realize that and get it done.

“We just have to play better. We have to coach them better, and we have to play better. Not just better, but smarter.”
