Johnny Manziel needs no introduction around Kyle Field, and his appearance at the spring game on Saturday brought a host of roars from the crowd.

Before he threw a pair of touchdown passes in the “Legends” flag football game at halftime of the spring game on Saturday, Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, spoke with TexAgs about the program, and what it means to be back.

“It’s the best, look at this place, it didn’t exactly look like this when I was here,” Manziel said. “It’s awesome. Walking out of this place feeling the Kyle Field grass. There’s nothing like it, especially when you get a good group of guys like this, it’s amazing.”

“I want a reason to come back and be a part of the program, so this is just step one,” he said. “I want a reason to come back and be a part of the program and be around. So this is just step one of the next step of being back and part of the program now that my football career is over.”

Manziel added that his new podcast, “Ball Don’t Lie,” has helped him as much as it does the audience.

About the program, Manziel said the potential is the moon, and to be in a position to be first or second in the SEC West.

“We’re right on the verge last year,” he said. “… No doubt that we’re building something in the right direction and going the right way.”

After halftime, he said in an SEC Network+ interview that this is the best place he’s been in his life in a while.
