This week’s NFL combine has only strengthened former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett’s draft stock. The 6-5, 262-pound edge rusher has long been in the running to go to the Cleveland Browns with the number-one overall pick, and so far, he’s receiving rave reviews.

“[Garrett looks] like a job saver,” an anonymous NFL executive told Michael Silver of Sports Illustrated.

Garrett looked so impressive, some have moved on from player comps and moved to superhero adjectives to describe the former Aggie.

“I don’t have a player comparison for what I just saw. He looked like Wolverine,” a defensive coordinator told SI’s Peter King.

Regardless of historical comparisons, Garrett has certainly stood out against this year’s crop of talent. His 33 reps of the 225-pound bench press were the second most among defensive linemen at the event. His 4.64-second 40-yard dash was impressive in its own right, but scouts were reportedly more fixated on his 1.63-second time in the first 10 yards. This measurement is important for a pass rusher because of the quick burst necessary to come off the edge.

Additionally, Garrett’s 41-inch vertical jump was the best of any defensive lineman, and his 10-foot, 8-inch broad jump was the second-best of anyone from his position group as well.

If Garrett’s name is called first on April 27, he will be the highest selection in Aggie history. Though the school has produced five number-two overall picks, most recently Luke Joeckel and Von Miller, Texas A&M has never produced a number-one selection.
