Texas A&M fired coach Kevin Sumlin on Sunday afternoon, and is now heavily pursuing Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher to replace him.

Though getting Fisher to leave Tallahassee, where he’s already won a national title, won’t be easy, the Aggies are giving it their best shot and may actually be making some headway with the talented coach.

According to FootballScoop.com, many fellow coaches believe Fisher will eventually take the Texas A&M job with a contract in the neighborhood of seven years and $50 million:

The latest buzz inside the profession is that Fisher will be the next Aggies coach with a contract that runs for seven years and surpasses the $50 million mark.

Obviously, that would be a huge hire for the Aggies, and one that would likely excite the fan base in a big way.

It’s still early, and nothing is guaranteed just yet, but it does appear things are trending in the right direction for those hoping to see Fisher in College Station next season.
