It appears another SEC game will be coming off the slate because of a COVID-19 outbreak. Ole Miss at No. 5 Texas A&M on Nov. 21 is “likely 99 percent cancelled,” according to sources of the Ole Miss Spirit, via 247Sports.

Texas A&M’s game this week against Tennessee is postponed due to an outbreak within the Aggies’ program. In a statement on Wednesday, Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher announced that the team doesn’t the requisite amount of players in order to play.

“Our football team roster has fallen below the SEC threshold in order to compete this week due to two players testing positive for COVID, the contact tracing associated with the road trip, to go along with the players who have opted out and who are injured,” Fisher said.

In college football, players who have obtained the virus or come in contact with anyone who has are required to quarantine for 14 days.

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin announced that his program has some COVID-19 cases but still meets the threshold to play.

“We have a couple,” Kiffin said. “I think we have three. That’s probably not all bad compared to a lot of people. And somehow, we tested Monday and Tuesday, and somehow had no negatives (positives), which is great because I was very concerned with everybody gone for the weekend and not being around.”

If Texas A&M is able to field the required amount of players, their next game will be against visiting LSU on Nov. 28. LSU’s game this week against Alabama was called off due to a COVID-19 outbreak at LSU.

Ole Miss hosts South Carolina in one of the few games not tabled by COVID-19 this week. On Nov. 28, Ole Miss will host Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.
