The fallout from the battle of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher still hasn’t totally settled since the Alabama and Texas A&M coaches traded barbs last month.

Shemar Stewart, a 5-star defensive lineman in the class of 2022 was the top player in the state of Florida during the 2022 recruiting cycle. The Aggies signed a stellar defensive line class and highest-ranked class in recruiting rankings history.

Stewart recently shared his perspective on the topic, and Aggies Today shared a portion of the interview.

The host of the show mentioned that Saban was targeting “real people” and that Stewart was one of those players he was mentioning as being “bought” by Fisher during this class.

He went on to ask Stewart how it made him feel as a player that was given the perks of a large NIL deal.

“I mean, if you’re not in the situation you don’t really know what happened. So honestly, it made me laugh,” Stewart said.

Stewart, the No. 10 overall recruit in the 2022 class, was one of the top players remaining unsigned entering National Signing Day. Stewart listed Georgia, Texas A&M and Miami as his finalists.

Some of his accolades included being a 2022 Under Armour All-American, and he also bounced back from an injury in his junior season to record 13 sacks as a senior.
