Texas AD Chris Del Conte confident Texas and Texas A&M will renew rivalry in the future
Texas A&M and Texas haven’t played each other since 2011, the year before the Aggies left the Big 12 for the SEC.
Rumors have swirled about why the two former rivals haven’t played since then, with each side blaming the other, but now it appears a renewal of the big-time rivalry could be in the works.
New Texas AD Chris Del Conte spoke on Wednesday about the rivalry, saying he thinks the two teams will renew the Lone Star State showdown in the future:
Chris Del Conte on renewing UT/A&M football rivalry: "At some point and time we will pick up our rivalry. It’s important to our state and important to our fan base. I’m assuming when it’s appropriate and ready, we’ll play…We’d like to do that, it’s just matching up schedules."

Obviously, it is tough to schedule non-conference games, but the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry should be on par with Florida-Florida State, South Carolina-Clemson, Georgia-Georgia Tech and others.
Now, as a Mizzou graduate, I’d like to see what Del Conte can do about the defunct Mizzou-Kansas rivalry.
