Following a terrific season for Texas A&M in the first year of Mike Elko’s defensive system, junior Aggies linebacker Tyrel Dodson has declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.

The redshirt junior started every game for the Aggies this season and finished third on the team in tackles after leading the team in tackles as a sophomore. Entering the 2018 season, Dodson was named to the preseason Bednarik Award Watch List and Nagurski Trophy Watch List and following the conclusion of the regular season, was given the Defensive Playmaker Award at the team’s annual banquet.

Needless to say, this will be a be loss for the Aggies moving forward.

The Tennessee native announced the news on Wednesday with the following message on social media, which included the following caption: “It’s been an amazing 3 years Aggieland! Thank you & Gig’em forever.”
