Kellen Mond didn’t lack confidence entering this season. In fact, at SEC Media Days during the summer, he shared that he thinks he’s the best quarterback in the conference.

Tim Tebow is a fan of that swagger.

Tebow is in College Station, Texas, along with the SEC Nation crew, ahead of Saturday’s Auburn-Texas A&M game, and on Friday, the former Heisman Trophy winner shared with TexAgs.com his thoughts on Mond’s confidence and how he thinks that helps while playing in the competitive SEC.

“I love it. If you are going to be successful, especially in this league, you have to believe that you’re worthy, that you’re there for a reason, that you are one of the best, if not the best,” Tebow said. “And also have, whether you want to call it a chip or an edge or confidence, be willing to go out there and prove it week in and week out. So I love that he has that.

“But now he has a chance to bounce back after getting kind of hit in the face a little bit and show us what he’s all about on a really big stage in a game that if you want to compete in the [SEC] West this year, it’s pretty close to a must win.”

Mond has passed for 747 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions during the Aggies’ 2-1 start. He’s thrown an interception in each of their three games, and most of his yards came during last weekend’s win over Lamar.

However, Mond has positives to build off of entering conference play, which will be a much more difficult portion of Texas A&M’s schedule. Perhaps his confidence will help guide the Aggies’ offense.

No. 17 Texas A&M and No. 8 Auburn are set to kick off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
