The Texas A&M Aggies currently have the No. 3 overall recruiting class in the country (No. 3 in the SEC, too) in coach Jimbo Fisher’s first full recruiting cycle with the team.

That’s a big deal for the Aggies, who are trying to compete with the big boys in the SEC West (and Georgia in the SEC East).

On Wednesday afternoon, after the Aggies impressed on Day 1 of the early signing period, Outkick the Coverage’s Clay Travis raved about the work Fisher did on the recruiting trails:

“Jimbo Fisher is on a big-time hot streak,” he said. “This is his first full recruiting class as the head coach of Texas A&M, and if you aren’t buying into the fact that the Aggies are putting together a different caliber of athlete and a different caliber of team than they’ve ever had before, you haven’t been paying attention. This is a tremendous class that A&M has put together. They are, right now, the No. 3 recruiting class in America, and we’ve never seen this before.”

The Aggies aren’t done yet, either, so we’ll see what Fisher can add to this year’s class before all is said and done.
