WATCH: Cullen Gillaspia makes his case for PFT Commenter's 'Fullback of the Year' award
Fullbacks aren’t used that much in football, with the game passing them by in favor of spread passing attacks and single-back sets.
However, there are still a few players left fighting the good fight, and Texas A&M 12th man Cullen Gillaspia is one of the best.
So, when popular Barstool Sports personality PFT Commenter announced a Fullback of the Year award, Gillaspia decided to throw his hat in the ring. As you can see below, he pitched his candidacy to PFT Commenter:
Recently, @PFTCommenter claimed he would be handing out an award to the best fullback in college football. Well, today in the bye week press conference @AggieFootball very own fullback Cullen Gillaspia (@CGillaspia) made his case for the prestigious award. #GRIT #12thman pic.twitter.com/jIJeKHAbkm

“PFT, if you’re out there, I’d really like to be the fullback of the year,” Gillaspia said. “Partly because I want the trophy and partly just because I’m expediting — expediting? That’s not the right word. See, I’m a fullback, I’m dumb. I can’t even say the right words. But yeah, PFT, if you’re out there, I believe I’m worthy of your fullback award.”
Naturally, this made its way back to PFT Commenter, who weighed in on Gillaspia’s candidacy:
He makes a compelling case for the first annaul fullback of the year trophy but its a long season. Your On the watch list for sure Cullen https://t.co/x829dWnUEZ

The Aggies have a bye this week, but then return to the field at Mississippi State next year. Gillaspia will need to be on top of his game to help A&M move the ball on the ground against the Bulldogs’ stout defense.
