The Texas A&M Aggies hired Jimbo Fisher away from Florida State earlier this month, but he won’t coach the team in the Belk Bowl on Dec. 29.

That duty will fall to interim coach Jeff Banks, and he won’t be taking the Wake Forest Demon Deacons lightly.

As you can see in the video below, shared by Texas A&M Athletics on YouTube, Banks compares Wake Forest QB John Wolford to former Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson:

“Maybe like a Shea Patterson or someone like that,” he said. “He can get himself out of jams. They run a fast-tempo, zone-read offense with a lot of RPOs.

“John Wolford’s been able to make it happen, no matter what the situation or circumstance. … This is a team that’s going to be in it, they’re going to be motivated and they’re going to be excited. And he’s the leader, no doubt.”

Wolford threw for 2,792 yards and 25 touchdowns while leading Wake Forest to a 7-5 record, so he is certainly a dangerous quarterback.

See if the Aggies can bring Banks’s Texas A&M record to 1-0 on Friday, Dec. 29. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ESPN.
