Zhuric Phelps scores 34, leads Texas A&M to thrilling comeback win over Oklahoma

Texas A&M and Oklahoma delivered a thriller in their top-25 clash Wednesday night. The No. 18 Aggies erased a second-half deficit of 18 points to defeat the No. 17 Sooners 80-78 in Norman.
Zhuric Phelps got it done for the Aggies. He scored 34 points, including the 3-pointer that put the Aggies ahead in the final seconds.
Oklahoma led 39-30 at the half and opened the 2nd half on a 12-3 run, making it a 51-33 game with 17 minutes to go.
Phelps took over in the 2nd half, scoring 28 of his 34 points. He made 6 3-pointers over the final 16 minutes, helping Buzz Williams’ squad chip away at the lead.

In the box score, Texas A&M only led for 8:32 of playing time. Oklahoma posted the higher shooting percentage (54-44), but A&M got off 15 more field-goal attempts (61-46).
Oklahoma had 18 turnovers to Texas A&M’s 9, and the Aggies won points off turnovers 30-13. While Phelps’ 3 balls were key, A&M also outscored OU in the paint 36-20.
