Mitchell Trubisky’s injury will almost certainly lead to playing time for Chase Daniel in the Chicago Bears’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions.

It may do the same for a former Tennessee quarterback.

The Bears promoted Tyler Bray from their practice squad Wednesday to back up Daniel, according to Pro Football Talk. Daniel, who played at Missouri before it joined the SEC, is slated to start for Chicago in the wake of Trubisky’s shoulder injury.

But Bray might see action should Daniel struggle or suffer an injury himself. After appearing in 28 games for the Volunteers from 2010-12, Bray went undrafted before latching on with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Volunteer signed a one-year deal with the Bears in March before being waived Sept. 1 and signed to the practice squad the following day. He has appeared in one game in his NFL career, with his only attempt falling incomplete.

Now Bray finds himself back on an active roster and could even see the field Thursday.
