SEC coaching legends Phillip Fulmer and Steve Spurrier will reportedly be the guest pickers for ESPN College Gameday in Knoxville Saturday, according to John Brice of 247Sports.com.

Sources in the Tri-Cities said to be “extremely close” to the “Head Ball Coach” told the website that Spurrier was in his hometown of nearby Johnson City Friday and confirmed that he planned to participate with the Gameday crew.

Sources in Maryville, where Fulmer resides, told the website Friday that the former Tennessee coach had also been contacted to appear alongside his former Florida rival in a rare double-guest picker appearance in front of the Knoxville crowd.

Fulmer and Spurrier were coaches at their respective rival alma matters throughout the 1990s. Spurrier led the Gators to a national championship in 1996, while Fulmer led the Vols to the inaugural BCS title in 1998. The two coaches combined for eight SEC championships and 13 SEC East division titles.

Fulmer was the last Tennessee coach to defeat Florida in 2004. Spurrier returned to Florida this offseason as an ambassador to the football program after a long tenure at South Carolina and was honored during a Week 1 ceremony in which UF renamed the field inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to Steve Spurrier-Florida Field.
