Dee Williams ran like he’d wanted to score on a punt return all season, and the Tennessee speedster delivered on Saturday at Vanderbilt.

Williams returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown, and then busted out a stanky leg celebration with teammates.

That was Tennessee’s first punt return for a TD since Marquez Callaway’s 65-yarder against South Carolina in 2019.

Williams has come back from missing 4 games because of injury in a big way. Williams made his college debut at LSU and provided an instant spark on special teams, as he returned his first punt as a Vol 58 yards to set up a field goal in the first quarter. Later, he returned 2 punts against Kentucky, including a 34-yard scamper in the fourth quarter that set up a 13-yard touchdown pass on the next play.

The return against Vandy gave the Vols a 21-0 lead with 8:09 remaining in the first half.
