The Third Saturday in October is going to be one to remember.

Tennessee defensive end Jonathan Kongbo, who committed to the Volunteers as the nation’s No. 1 JUCO prospect from the 2016 recruiting class, has been putting rival Alabama on blast for weeks now.

First, he got the ball rolling by placing a white board with “Bama we coming!” written on it while he worked out. And in a recent interview with Rocky Top Insider, Kongbo added fuel to the fire by all but guaranteeing a win vs. the Crimson Tide when they travel to Knoxville on Oct. 15.

In response to Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor’s trash talk — who tweeted out that the Gators were going to earn their 12th win in a row against UT in 2016 — Kongbo had this to say about his new SEC rivals:

“Well I mean, I just kind of laughed at [Tabor’s comments] because I know we’re going to beat Florida. I know we’re going to beat Alabama. We’re going to beat all those teams,” Kongbo said. “So I’ll say right now, we’re going to beat every team we play next year. I just really laughed at it, especially the comments that Jalen made. It was funny. We’ll see what Jalen Hurd does to him though.”

Tennessee is an early favorite to win the SEC East Division in what would be the program’s first since 2007, but it hasn’t beaten Alabama since the 2006 season. The Crimson Tide are 52-38-7 all-time against the Vols, dating back to 1901.

“I mean, kind of the main thing is, if you want to be the best you got to beat the best,” he said. “And we know Alabama won the national championship this year and the message that I’m sending to them is that ain’t no one around here scared of that. We’re coming for them. It’s football so once the pads are on, you’ve got to figure out how to win so we’ll see.”

In 11 games played with Arizona Western College last season, Kongbo recorded 55 tackles and 11.0 sacks, which was good for 4th among Arizona Community College Athletic Conference defensive standouts in 2015.
