Teams usually don’t need any extra motivation when the college football calendar turns to rivalry week. Tennessee’s senior class, however, should be especially motivated to beat Vanderbilt on Saturday.

On Twitter, writer Zac Ellis noted that with a Vanderbilt win, this would be the first Volunteers senior class to go 0-4 against the Commodores in nearly a century. (Obviously, many senior classes include players who have redshirted at some point along the way and depart as fifth-year redshirt seniors as opposed to fourth-year true seniors, but the four-year streak stat is still of interest.)

While the stat captures Tennessee’s frustration in the rivalry, it’s not looking very likely that Vanderbilt makes it 4 in a row over UT. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Commodores only an 8.8 percent chance of winning on Saturday. VU is a 21-point underdog according to Caesars Sportsbook.

Saturday’s game is set for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff in Knoxville. The game will air on the SEC Network.
