At this point, Tennessee may be wise to cut all ties to Jon Gruden.

The long-rumored coaching candidate for many of the fans in Vol Nation was scheduled to headline Tennessee’s Coaches Clinic event in Knoxville this week but didn’t show up, citing a “last minute scheduling conflict” according to Tennessee official Twitter account.

Based on Oakland’s record last season in Gruden’s return to the sidelines, Tennessee fans can’t be too mad they didn’t land Gruden. While Jeremy Pruitt has yet to turn things around on the field in Knoxville, his Tennessee program appears to have one of the nation’s best coaching staffs heading into 2019 and his program’s recruiting efforts have been very solid considering the team’s record the previous two seasons.

At least Gruden praised Pruitt and Tennessee’s new defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley in the video below.

“Coach Pruitt, really excited about the job you are doing there with the Volunteers. You got my man Derrick Ansley there, I know you are going to turn things around fast,” Gruden says in the video.

Turns out, Gruden’s announced visit was just the latest false Grumor in Knoxville.
