Cigars are a staple in the Third Saturday in October rivalry between Alabama and Tennessee, and it’s so well-known around the SEC that even a former quarterback from another SEC East program chipped in to help the Vols celebrate.

One of the people who supplied the Tennessee football team with cigars was none other than Jay Cutler, the former Vanderbilt QB, reported Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated. Why did he do it? “He wanted us to beat Bama,” said a Vols administrator.

The cigars were lit only after Chase McGrath made a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give No. 6 Tennessee a 52-49 victory over No. 3 Alabama on Saturday. That ended a 15-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide, and sent fans flooding on to the field, and the goalposts soon came down and were paraded out of the stadium.
