Georgia receiver Jordan Young just committed to Tennessee, which may conclude the wildest story of the 2018 recruiting cycle.

Last weekend during an official visit to the Tennessee campus, Young received an offer from the Vols. Pretty standard stuff during a recruiting trip, however, the scholarship offer was Young’s first from a Power 5 program. His other offers at the time were Coastal Carolina, Valdosta State and West Virginia State.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Young wasn’t receiving much attention despite earning Second Team All-State honors in the talent-rich state of Georgia at the 6A level. He accomplished that after catching 66 passes for 1,562 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also runs track in high school, competing in the hurdles for Heritage out of Conyers, Ga.

Young released the following statement on Twitter announcing his commitment to the Vols:

How a prospect of his caliber remained unknown for so long is a mystery, however, 247Sports gave him plenty of attention after Tennessee hosted him for a visit. In the new 247Sports rankings released Thursday, Young went from an unranked prospect to a four-star ranked No. 190 in the nation at any position. Keep in mind, that’s not his composite ranking, but the grade 247Sports assigns itself.

Now he’s Tennessee’s fourth-highest ranked recruit for the 2018 cycle.
