Tennessee got embarrassed by No. 3 Georgia in Athens Saturday afternoon, 27-13.

The Vols have looked dominant all season, dispatching LSU and downing Alabama to earn a No. 1 ranking in the initial College Football Playoff poll. Georgia took that personally.

Tennessee’s chances of reaching the Playoff as still alive, but much less so than if they were competitive against the Bulldogs. With TCU picking up a win, Clemson with a favorable schedule to finish the year and now all chances of a trip to Atlanta out the window, some in Knoxville have reasons to worry.

College football is chaotic and plenty of things can mix things up in the coming weeks, but the odds don’t look great for the Vols right now. Tennessee will need help rather than controlling their own destiny heading into the final 3 games of the year against Mizzou, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Fans took to social media to weigh in on Tennessee’s hopes of cracking the 4-team field. Some think the Vols’ chances are done, others think Tennessee’s loss has opened the door for a 3-SEC team playoff field.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
