Jeremy Pruitt knows a thing or two about recruiting elite defensive prospects. Tennessee’s head coach, and of course, former Alabama, Georgia and FSU assistant, did so for years in Tuscaloosa, Tallahassee and Athens.

Now he’s doing the same on Rocky Top as the leader of the Tennessee program.

That’s where Justin Eboigbe of Forest Park, Ga., comes in. The four-star defensive lineman, he’s the No. 10 strongside defensive end, and No. 112 overall prospect in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, is currently committed to Alabama but made his way to Rocky Top to take in Tennessee’s dominating win over No. 11 Kentucky. The Vols shut down the Wildcats on their way to a 24-7 win, which was led by Pruitt’s defense.

One thing to consider, if Eboigbe does sign with Tennessee, he could one day replace UT defensive end Darrell Taylor in the lineup. If Eboigbe had his eye on the Tennessee defender, he saw Taylor sack Kentucky QB Terry Wilson four times on Saturday. That’s the kind of production Pruitt and his staff can get out of their best pass rusher in a conference game.

While Eboigbe has been committed to Alabama since June, his visit schedule would suggest his commitment status isn’t very firm to the Crimson Tide. During the season, he’s visited Florida and Georgia and is scheduled to visit Miami before the season ends. This weekend, Eboigbe arrived in Knoxville on Friday and stayed for the Kentucky game.

Not long after Tennessee’s big win over Kentucky, Eboigbe expressed his thoughts on the direction of the Tennessee program under Pruitt:

While there’s over a month until the early signing period arrives, it appears Tennessee will at the very least have a shot at flipping the first Alabama commit of the Pruitt era after the Vols outstanding defensive showing against the No. 11 team in the nation.
