Getting destroyed at home in a rivalry game is not something Jeremy Pruitt is going to tolerate any longer.

After losing by 26 inside Neyland Stadium to Florida earlier in the season, thanks to six turnovers and a complete lack of execution for much of the day, Tennessee is getting whipped by Alabama once again in the annual rivalry. The score of the latest contest between the two rivals was 42-14 heading into halftime, which came after the Tide jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the game.

That result just isn’t going to cut if for Pruitt and he apparently let his team know it at the break. According to CBS sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl, the Tennessee coach relayed the message he had for his team at halftime.

“I made them a promise, we have a few guys playing the right way and doing all the right things. I promise you I’ll recruit 25 other guys that will play the right way so we don’t have to play in another game like this,” Pruitt said, according to Erdahl.

Pruitt hasn’t been willing to publicly lash his Tennessee players since taking the job back in December but it would seem that the coach has reached his limit as far as what he’s willing to accept from his players when it comes to production and execution on the field.

The current players have been put on notice and with Tennessee currently having a touted recruiting class lined up, with more elite prospects still being recruited, next season could feature an influx of young talent if the experienced players don’t step up and do what Pruitt is asking them to do on the practice field and on game days.
