Jeremy Pruitt provides another update on the progress of top signee JJ Peterson
The Tennessee Volunteers waited… and waited… and waited for 4-star 2018 signee JJ Peterson to arrive on campus.
He finally did, just before the season started, but he wasn’t ready for game action, according to coach Jeremy Pruitt.
On Wednesday, Pruitt announced that Peterson was progressing, but isn’t where the other freshmen are at this point:
#Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt: JJ [Peterson] is working hard and changing his body, but you have to think about it like this: By the time our season ends, he’ll be about where the other (freshmen) were at the end of fall camp. He’s on our scout team right now, and he’s working hard.

On the bright side, it sounds like Peterson is going to be able to keep his redshirt intact this year, which means he’ll still have four years of eligibility starting in 2019.
However, Vol fans have to be hoping that he’ll at least be ready to see some game action in the last four weeks of the season.
