Jeremy Pruitt's Tennessee staff will reportedly have school-record salary pool

It looks like Jeremy Pruitt will have plenty of money at his disposal to assemble a first-rate staff in Knoxville.

It was announced Thursday that Pruitt and the Vols have agreed to terms on a contract, bringing one of the craziest coaching searches in memory to an end. Pruitt comes to Tennessee after serving as Nick Saban’s DC each of the past two years.

The hiring should bring a bit of excitement to Vols fans everywhere, and another report from Thursday should increase that excitement.

John Brice with Gridiron Now is reporting that Pruitt’s deal will be for six years and worth about $4 million on average, but it is the money allotted for assistants that is the big news. According to Brice’s report, the salary pool for Pruitt’s staff will be around $5 million, making it a school record and one of the nation’s highest.

The construction of Pruitt’s staff will be crucial, and at least it appears that money should not be an issue when deciding on assistants.
