There’s been no shortage of talk surrounding the Lyn-J Dixon and Bru McCoy’s eligibility ahead of the 2022 season.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel gave an update on that Tuesday morning, saying that there was still no update on McCoy’s eligibility after he joined the team this summer:

“There’s another hurdle that we’ve still got to clear for him to be completely eligible,” Heupel said per a report from Sports Illustrated earlier this summer. “Our administration’s working on that, and we’ll find out when we find out. Those things always go through our administration, our compliance department. All the entities on campus are a part of that process. Feel really good about who he is and how he’s approached getting to Knoxville and becoming an integrated part of our football team and our campus life.”

McCoy was suspended following an arrest due to partner violence back in August. In his redshirt sophomore year, he caught 21 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns. That was his first year on the scene.

There is good news, though. Transfer RB Lyn-J Dixon is immediately eligible, per Heupel:

Tennessee is poised to be a successful team in 2022, with an offense and a quarterback like Hendon Hooker under center. McCoy plays a part in that and should be be back on the field sooner rather than later.
