Josh Heupel recaps win over Akron as Florida game looms: 'Control the controllables'
Josh Heupel didn’t have much time to digest the lopsided win over Akron before he was asked about the big game against Florida next week.
“Control the controllables,” Heupel said. “Make sure we’re ready to play. Obviously everyone is excited.”
Heupel said of the Jimmy Calloway incident where Calloway threw punches at an Akron player, “It’s not who we are. He’s disappointed, too.”
Heupel was impressed with the sell-out crowd for Akron, and added that it was a good, solid win in all 3 phases.
“Our fanbase is just absolutely electric,” Heupel said. “Best Vol Walk I’ve ever been part of. A lot of fun to play in front of our fans.”
#Vols coach Josh Heupel: There were a lot of low hits in that game. Lot of ’em. That was one of the chippiest games we’ve had.

Josh Heupel on #Vols WR Jalin Hyatt: He’s a guy that wanted to be great and worked to be great all offseason long. His best football is still out there, but we’re proud of him.

Josh Heupel: You want to be somewhere it matters. It matters here.

Josh Heupel on Tennessee fans selling out Akron: It’s college football as good as it gets. Our fanbase is as good as it gets. I’ve never been part of anything like tonight. It was special.
