Josh Heupel led Tennessee to the first 10-win regular season since 2013, and after the win over Vanderbilt, Heupel reacted to the victory.

The Vols knocked off the Commodores 56-0, and after the game, he spoke with Cole Cubelic of the SEC Network.

“This was a great win for our program,” Heupel said. “A lot’s been made about the culture in our locker room, whatever it might be, like this is a culture win, man. Two years ago when I took this job, to think we’d be here at 10 wins in Year 2, play the way that we did in all 3 phases of the game, we’re far from perfect, got a lot of ways we could grow, but I’m extremely proud of this football team, our staff, our players, the future’s bright. A team that’s really connected and competed extremely hard for each other, man. They love one another, I love competing with these guys.”

Heupel became the third Tennessee coach in the last 60 years to lead the Vols to 10 or more wins in the first or second season.

Heupel added that the Vols expect to win, and works in a way to expect to win since the bowl game last season.

“We haven’t been perfect,” he said. “There’s a whole lot of things we could have been better at, man, you talk about resiliency, competitive nature, playing for one another, I’ll go to battle with these guys every day.”
