Kirk Herbstreit congratulated Tennessee on its big win over Alabama on Saturday night, and admitted he was wrong when he picked Alabama on ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday morning.

Herbstreit was the only panelist to pick Alabama on the show after Lee Corso, Peyton Manning, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee picked the Vols.

Chase McGrath made a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give No. 6 Tennessee a 52-49 victory over No. 3 Alabama. The kick was a knuckler, and it sent the sell-out crowd of more than 100,000 fans on to the field as the Vols ended a 15-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide. Soon, the goal posts went down.

It was all setup by Hendon Hooker, who drove the Vols 45 yards in 18 seconds to set up the winner. Jalin Hyatt caught 6 passes for 207 yards and a Tennessee-record 5 touchdowns.

Congratulations (Tennessee) on a HISTORIC win!! Happy to admit I was wrong…AGAIN! Enjoy the victory-can’t imagine the scene in Knoxville tonight..congratulations-well deserved! Keep it goin!!!
