Tennessee softball did what they needed to do in order to move past Texas. The Lady Vols have punched their ticket to Oklahoma City after beating the Longhorns 9-0.

Kiki Miloy crossed home plate for Tennessee in the first inning thanks to a fielder’s choice. That would be the only scoring until the sixth inning. The bats started to get hot for the Lady Vols in the final two innings of the game.

Destiny Rodriguez did a great job of hitting with the bases loaded. Her efforts knocked home two runs for Tennessee. She reached second base with some good base running. Tennessee entered the seventh inning with a 3-0 lead.

The Lady Vols would go on to bring home six more runs before the end of the game. Jamison Brockenbrough brought home one run with a single through the left side.

One of the bigger plays of the game came when Giulia Koutsoyanopoulos stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. She hit a single into right field that made it past the Texas outfielders for an inside-the-park home run.

Katie Taylor scored the final run of the game after a Texas fielding error.

The pitching for Tennessee played their part too. Payton Gottshall pitched all seven innings without allowing a single run. She finished the game with 2 walks, 2 hits, and 5 strikeouts. Gottshall used a high strike to secure the final out.

The other teams who have punched their ticket to Oklahoma City are Oklahoma and Stanford.
