The Tennessee Volunteers had a chance to potentially earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament by winning the SEC Tournament title on Sunday. However, Auburn had other plans, routing the Vols 84-64 to cut down the nets in Nashville.

Still, the Vols are one of the best teams in the nation, and they were rewarded for a great season by the NCAA Selection Committee.

During Sunday night’s selection show, the Vols were named the No. 2 seed in the South region, and will take on No. 15 seed Colgate.

That game between the Raiders and Vols will take place on Friday in Columbus, Ohio. Should the Vols advance to the second weekend of the tournament, they’ll head to Louisville.

Many felt Kentucky would be the No. 2 seed in the South, but the committee felt the Vols earned that spot.
