Tennessee notched its best win of the season this past Saturday when it beat Auburn, and athletic director Phillip Fulmer is pleased with what he’s seeing from the Vols.

“You could see our team improving and they put a complete game together and didn’t beat ourselves, it was a super day,” Fulmer said during an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday. “That locker room was one to see.”

Tennessee improved to 3-3 and earned its first SEC win under first-year coach Jeremy Pruitt. The Vols rebounded from losses to Florida and Georgia to upset Auburn on the road. It was Tennessee’s first win at Auburn since 1999.

“We’re not as bad as we played against Florida, certainly,” Fulmer said. “And we’re probably not as good as it might have seemed coming out of Auburn. We’re somewhere in between. We’re a team that’s getting better, the kids have certainly bought into Jeremy and what we’re trying to do. We’re getting great effort.”

Fulmer, who coached the Vols from 1992-2008, became Tennessee’s AD in 2017.

Tennessee will look to build momentum from its win over Auburn when it hosts No. 1 Alabama on Saturday.
