Heading into Week 8, nobody expected the Tennessee Volunteers to still have a chance for the SEC East title.

However, that’s where we’re at right now, although the Vols winning the title would involve a ridiculous amount of chaos.

Reddit user SamHeld15 figured out a scenario in which the Vols make it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game, and it’s absolutely wild:

  1. Tennessee beats Alabama this weekend (I am going to jump in a pool fully clothed around Thanksgiving and my brother is going to go vegetarian for a month if UT wins) and wins out with the remaining schedule of South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri and Vanderbilt and finishes with a conference record of 6-2.
  2. Georgia beats Florida next weekend and then loses to Kentucky and Auburn: finishes with 5-3 record.
  3. Florida loses to Georgia and loses one of their games against Missouri or South Carolina and finishes with a 5-3 record.
  4. Kentucky wins out, except for losing to Tennessee and finishes with a 6-2 record but doesn’t have the tiebreaker.

Obviously, the Vols will have their hands full just trying to hold up their end of the bargain, as beating Alabama is something not many teams have done over the past few years.

Still, the Vols are still alive, and crazy things happen all the time…
