The Tennessee Volunteers had a special season last year, finishing with a share of the SEC’s regular-season title and making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

They did so on the strength of their defense, which was the No. 6 defense in the country, according to KenPom.com.

However, coach Rick Barnes wants them to be even better on that end of the floor this coming season (via 247Sports):

“We still think we have to be better defensively,” said Barnes. “We didn’t last year reach the goals that we set for ourselves from a defensive standpoint. We were close in a lot of them, but we didn’t get them all. We can get better there.”

Expectations will be high in Knoxville this fall, as most early projections have the Vols among the top-five teams in the country.

With guys like Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams coming back, it could be a special season for Barnes and his squad.
