Now that Tennessee has officially fired coach Butch Jones, the search is on for the next coach of the Volunteers.

Many on Rocky Top have only one name in mind — former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach and current Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden.

However, on Monday morning, former UCLA coach and current CBS analyst Rick Neuheisel threw out an odd suggestion for who he thinks would be a “perfect choice” for the Vols. As you can see below, he likes former Texas coach Mack Brown for the position:

Though Brown is certainly a big name in the college football world, he’s not exactly a hot commodity on the market right now.

It’s safe to say Tennessee fans would be a little upset if the best the Vols could do was a coach who struggled at the end of his legendary tenure at Texas.

Tennessee fans are hoping for Gruden, so if the Vols can’t land him, it’ll be interesting to see who they call as Plan B. It’s probably a good bet it won’t be Brown, though.
