Robert Griffin III is reminded of his college career watching Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker.

Griffin, currently an ESPN analyst, recently appeared on the Saturday Down South podcast with Connor O’Gara. When discussing Hooker and his potential Heisman Trophy campaign, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner noted that the Tennessee quarterback has a similar playing style to his Baylor days.

“I’d stick with the (Hendon) Hooker comparison, not just because of the style of play. He can throw it, he can run it. And he’s developed over his college career the same way I did,” Griffin said. “When I came into college, I was a bonafide runner … by the time I was a redshirt junior, it was like 50 yards rushing, 400 yards passing. I look at Hendon in that way, but also because what he’s done there at Tennessee bringing that program back to prominence is very similar to what happened at Baylor.”

Hooker threw for 349 yards and 2 touchdowns while also leading UT in rushing (13 carries, 112 yards, 2 TD) in the Vols’ Week 4 win over Florida, taking Tennessee to No. 8 in the AP Top 25. The Volunteers are on a bye in Week 5.
