Just because the upcoming season is right around the corner, that doesn’t mean Jeremy Pruitt’s Tennessee program is sitting idly by as we inch closer to September. The opposite, in fact, as Pruitt has reportedly made a new hire to his staff.

According to Football Scoop, Tennessee has recently hired Shelton Felton to Pruitt’s staff in an off-the-field capacity. Felton previously served as the outside linebackers and associate head coach of Tennessee Chattanooga. UTC had the No. 1 defense in the Southern Conference last season.

Before landing at UTC, Felton was the head coach of Crisp County High School in Georgia. His final team went 13-1, which is a Crisp County record. Felton also has ties to Rush Propst, as he worked as the defensive coordinator under the high school coach at Colquitt County High School. Pruitt worked for Propst at Hoover High School in Alabama.

Felton played his college football at Troy.
