Elijah Simmons is staying close to home.

The 3-star defensive tackle announced on Twitter on Monday that he has committed to Tennessee. Simmons previously announced Missouri and Memphis as the other two schools in his top three choices.

Simmons, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 344 pounds, is the No. 47 defensive tackle in the 2019 class according to 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 22 recruit from Tennessee.

Simmons made the announcement with a commitment video, which ends with the Nashville native donning a Tennessee hat and shirt and dropping a “Go Vols.”

The Vols have 14 commitments in the 2019 class, including four defensive linemen, with the addition of Simmons. They have the No. 18 recruiting class in the nation and the No. 9 class in the SEC per 247Sports Composite.
