This week has been a good one for the Volunteers’ offensive line as Alabama graduate transfer Brandon Kennedy has arrived on campus and is expected to be in line to potentially start for Tennessee in the fall. In addition to that news, Marcus Tatum has an update: he’s now listed as a redshirt sophomore heading into 2018.

The Ormond Beach, Fla., native was a member of Tennessee’s 2016 recruiting class and saw limited action his first season on campus, making appearances against Alabama and Tennessee Tech. Tatum received an increased role in 2017, starting three games and appearing in a fourth. Instead of being a junior in the fall, Tatum will now have three years left to play in Knoxville if he so chooses.

The offensive lineman announced the update to his status in a rather creative way, by posting these emojis to Twitter:

Tatum made starting appearances against Georgia Tech, Georgia and South Carolina last season. He is currently locked in competition to start at right tackle, where he started for the Vols in 2017, for the upcoming season.
